Kang Hye-won announced that she has no plans to pursue a career as a singer

Actress Kang Hye-won, a former member of the group IZ*ONE, announced that she has no plans to pursue a career as a singer.

On the morning of the 15th, Kang Hye-won told her various stories through an interview with her Coupang play “Boys’ Generation” at her cafe in Samcheong-ro, Seoul.

“Boys’ Generation” is a dynamic youth action drama that tells the story of Jang Byeong-tae (played by Im Si-wan), an Onyang loser whose life-long goal is to live without getting hit, in 1989 in Chungcheongnam-do, who transforms into Buyeo jjang overnight.

In the play, Kang Hye-won played the role of Kang Seon-hwa, a peerless beauty who captivated Buyeo with her natural beauty, telling her to go away from Sophie Marceau, and she was greatly loved.

When asked about what prompted her to become an actress, she said, “Thankfully, I had a lot of opportunities like that, and since this is a field I’m interested in, I decided to take on the challenge.”

She continued, “When I was working as a singer, I often experienced various emotions through my fans. As an actor, I saw that people felt various emotions through me, so I worked harder and became more serious so that they could feel various emotions.”

When asked if she always wanted to be an actress rather than a singer, she said, “I didn’t. I have no plans to become a singer,” she said. “Rather than regretting it, I have good memories and feelings. I think it would be nice if the day came when I could do it again.”

When asked about thereaction of the members who watched “Boys’ Generation”, she said, “I was grateful that my friends watched the work despite their busy schedule after the first episode was released. I was touched when they left comments saying it was fun.”

When asked if they talked about the acting part, she laughed and said, “We don’t talk in depth, but I like it because we can exchange empathy in small ways, such as ‘How do you prepare for times like this?’ or ‘What do you do when you’re having a hard time?’”

Regarding the field and character she would like to challenge herself with, she said, “I’ve always liked comics, so I’m not really the funny type, but I think it would be nice to try something fun as a role.”

She then expressed her passion by saying that like Siwan, she can resist being broken and that she can “let go of everything.”
